Moshe Ben-Akiva is the Edmund K. Turner Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Director of the MIT Intelligent Transportation Systems Lab, and an elected member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering. His research has involved advancing transportation systems analysis, demand and behavioral modelling, and discrete choice analysis. He continues to develop smart mobility solutions that integrate methods across a variety of disciplines – including mathematics, behavioral sciences, engineering, and technology – that enable researchers and practitioners to understand, predict, and optimize travel behavior to address today’s mobility challenges and bring about a better future for sustainable transportation systems.
